We're back with another great virtual event! On August 27th between 4:00 and 5:30 pm EST, we're hosting a startup showcase with the UMass Lowell Small Business Innovation Research Center of Excellence. The UML SBIR Center of Excellence is part of the new UML Research Institute. This event will feature the semifinalists from the Center's recent $20K Award competition. After hearing a one-minute pitch from each of the 10 semifinalists about their technology (cutting edge, dual use) we will vote on an audience favorite and hear which four companies will each receive $20,000. You'll hear pitches from four companies and we'll have lots of great networking. The awards are funded by the DOD Office of Economic Adjustment.

The event will kick off with two amazing keynote panelists:  Charlie Hipwood, President and CEO of MassVentures, and Richard Carlin, Head of NavalX, the US Navy Accelerator. They will speak about what they see on the horizon for high-tech investment — from both private and DOD point of view. Stacy Swider, the Director of the UML SBIR Center of Excellence will moderate.

The UML SBIR COE offers access to an inner circle of SBIR process experts, as well as in-reach to scientists at UMass (all campuses) who can enhance your proposing team. Their new 19,000 sq. ft. Northstar Campus hosts startups with hot desks, meeting space, offices, and requisite infrastructure.  Members can also take advantage of technical and business assistance – with proposal writing, execution, business capture and contracting.

This event will offer insight into products which can be used by the DoD and others, SBIR and the SBIR process and excellent networking and new connections. Join us for this great virtual event!
