Curiosity and creativity, inherent qualities of innovators, are cultivated through reading. Whether books taught you new ideas, helped you escape to a more creative place, or simply ensured you’d succeed in school – reading has likely been a cornerstone in your innovation process.
Unfortunately, thousands of young children in Massachusetts are not being raised in a culture of books and reading. This puts them at a significant disadvantage socially, academically, and economically.
Raising A Reader MA making a difference for these children by helping their families develop, practice, and maintain habits of reading together at home. Our low-cost, evidence-based intervention model, which both increases access to books at home AND offers families resource and support for strengthening the culture of reading at home, is driven by 25 years of research that shows the single most significant factor affecting a child’s lifelong success is being regularly read to by a parent or other adult caregiver before starting kindergarten.
