Emerging business models of innovative or early stage companies and how they fit into the business of government technology

Civic Tech Startup market drivers and municipal/state purchasing processes

Scalable models for startups with state or municipal customers

I joined the Commonwealth of Massachusetts after two years of leading The Capital Network, providing essential fundraising educational for early-stage entrepreneurs in Boston. Previously, I worked for the City of Boston on the City's Innovation District initiative and helped craft the vision, strategy, and communications plan for the Innovation District upon its announcement by the Mayor in January 2010. Under the direction of the Commonwealth CIO, my role is to bridge our Innovation and Technology to external communities, including civic tech innovators, municipalities, tech associations, quasi-governmental organizations, and IT companies. Through external partnerships, MassIT can drive its mission for better digital government. With a strong belief that state and local government can benefit directly from the Massachusetts Innovation Economy, I co-founded GovNext and run our Open RFI initiative. www.mass.gov/MassIT/GovNext
