Prior to joining Draper Laboratory in 2014, Nathan served for 21 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served both as a commander of armored combat units and as a member of the Uniformed Army Science and Engineer program. In this latter capacity, Nathan served as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the United States Military Academy at West Point, Deputy Chief Scientist of the Army’s Tank and Automotive R&D Center, the science advisor to the eastern regional commander of our forces in Afghanistan, and as program manager of one of the largest portfolios of programs at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
Nathan is a graduate of Harvey Mudd College, has a masters in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
