The Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation is having their annual fundraiser on Thursday, April 26, 2012, and celebrating their 33rd Anniversary by honoring Thomas M. Menino, Marty Jones, President and CEO of MassDevelopment, and the Bornstein Family.

This is a great way to have products and services showcased in front of city and state officials as well as executives from private enterprise — and the money raised from the silent auction will assist Dorechester Bay EDC is continuing their programs to assist the people in Dorchester and Roxbury.

Housing: created 774 rental units and 169 home ownership units with an addt’l 12 three-deckers in development for resale to first time homeowners; 303 units in pipeline, assisted 297 owner occupied housing for rehab and deleading.
Economic Development: completed 156,260sf commercial space adding 323 jobs, invested over $2M in 104 small business loans with over 100 packaged loans leveraging $3.5M in outside investments, created and retained over 697 jobs through small business loans, currently developing Quincy Street and Pearl Meats into innovative training and business facilities.
Community Organizing: involved over 1,489 youth in programs each year, trained over 1,668 adults, placed over 620 people in jobs, organized six tenant associations involving over 450 adults and increased civic participation in these communities.
