You’ve heard of Kickstarter, Indiegogo and the crowdfunding craze. Now MIN is getting involved! We’re holding a special event on Wednesday September 19th, “Crowdfunding Innovation”. Crowdfunding Innovation is designed to help you make sense of what’s happening right now in the crowdfunding space. With the passage of the JOBS act, we’ve seen a surge in crowdfunding — not yet equity-based (expected next year) but focused on rewards.
We’ve asked three MIN alumni: Lifecycle, Memory on Hand and Ministry of Supply (who set a new record for crowdfunding in their category) to tell their crowdfunding stories. Join us for this evening event. Moderated by Kyle Alspach, from the Boston Business Journal’s Startup and Venture Capital newsletter, the panel will feature:
Lessons learned – What works and what doesn’t
How to take advantage of the “rewards” model while the space is at a fever pitch
The pros and cons of waiting for the new crowdfunding model in 2013
What’s next for our crowdfunding veterans
We’ll also be rejiggering the MIN model to help companies currently crowdfunding. We’ll have several companies currently crowdfunding there that night so you can check them out and maybe get in on the action. (Apply to be one of them now!)
We’ll be having a good time too — we’ll be at the Microsoft NERD Center with music, food (from Anna’s Taqueria) and drink (courtesy of Izze). Everyone who attends will also be getting our Crowdfunding Start Kit on a MemoryOnHand flashdrive wristband.
Special thanks to our partners at Metropolis Creative and our 2012 Sponsor Cambridge Trust Company.
P.S. Crowdfunding Innovation is in ADDITION to our regular monthly event on September 12. We’ll be holding that at Intrepid Labs in Cambridge. Don’t miss either event!
