TiE Boston’s award-winning program, ScaleUp, has created an accelerator specifically geared to help growth stage companies overcome common obstacles and barriers to scale. Based in the Boston/Cambridge area, the ScaleUp Team supports Massachusetts-based startups that are now in need of the next stage of knowledge, mentoring, connections and resources, to successfully prepare for scale and their next capital raise.
Many of the founders and companies participating in ScaleUp have previously completed one of the many excellent incubators and accelerators found in Massachusetts. Respecting the knowledge which exists in the group, we curate our content to be relevant and actionable to the challenges facing growth stage companies. Our sessions are facilitated by serial entrepreneurs and professors from top MBA programs who understand the needs of companies looking to scale.
Mentoring by Serial Entrepreneurs & Subject Matter Experts
Each company is paired with two mentors who have extensive experience with growth stage companies. The majority of our mentor pool have founded startups that have successfully exited or went public. To supplement our mentor pool, we also have an extensive list of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who can be called upon to help with a particular challenge whether it be in finance management, marketing or any area you need.
Structured Access to Investors
We also hold C-Suite Roundtables for current participants and alumni of ScaleUp. This provides a forum where executive-to-executive learning and expertise can help our entrepreneurs overcome challenges by getting advice from fellow participants who have faced the same challenges.
Participation in our five-month accelerator is free for admitted companies and we do not take any equity.
We are open to companies from all sectors who are preparing for scale! When reviewing your application, we ask ourselves the following questions:
• Do they have a compelling idea that solves a real problem?
• Do they have a solid team to execute on the idea?
• Is there potential in the business model?
• Do they have a track record of funding?*
• Is the market ready for them?
• Is the C-Suite coachable?
Your application is first reviewed by an admissions committee comprised of serial entrepreneurs, subject matter experts, past mentors and TiE Boston staff. You may be contacted by a member of the admissions committee with follow-up questions. If you have any questions on the admissions process, please contact Simone at [email protected].
*we have admitted promising companies who have raised a minimum of 250K though we often see companies who have raised $500K-$1M.
