Despite some rainy weather, the innovation community still showed up in force to help Mass Innovation Nights launch some awesome new products at MIN80. Our 80th event saw us returning to Autodesk offices in Waltham, a beautiful space that really showcases the company's awesome abilities. If you made it to the event, we're sure you took a stroll through their museum-like lobby and took in all the impressive minature models, small-scale building replicas and displays. Autodesk was very generous to our guests - providing plenty of pizza, salad, and refreshments and access to their coffee bar.
What a great night we had at District Hall! MIN79 featured all women founders and was held jointly with a new event from Innovation Women: Women Entrepreneurs Evening. It was all part of the Women Entrepreneurs Week in Boston.
If you missed MIN #78 last night at TripAdvisor- boy, did you miss out!
We had an incredible time at MITRE for Mass Innovation Nights #76! The atrium inside one of the mid-century modern style buildings provided a perfect backdrop that beautifully juxtaposed the new technologies featured at the event. Barry Costa, Rob McCready, Robert A. Martin, Steve Foote, and Dan Hoag from MITRE were our experts for the event, shared their insight about Health IT and Cybersecurity, our theme for the night.
Thanks again to MITRE for hosting the event and for working with us to make it all happen!
Here's the rundown on the final CityStart Boston Pitch Night at the Fairmount Innovation Lab! Who would you pick?
1. BloxYard is looking to optimize Boston’s innovation scene and create a discovery hub for Boston Innovation through the reuse of shipping containers. The Blox will include a coffee shop, showcase and demonstration space and a number of popup shops showcasing local products.
Mass Innovation Nights #75 couldn’t have gone better! Our sponsor and host, Google, offered an amazing set up at their Cambridge location – from the modern furniture in the lobby, the hardwood floors sourced from an old mill in Seattle, to the beautifully manicured rooftop garden. Product launchers and guests alike were in awe of the space throughout the night (as were we!). Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Jay Ash made a special appearance to talk about the importance of civic technology, the theme of the event.
After a day of identifying challenges, tossing ideas back and forth, and ideation, our intrepid City Starters are presenting their concepts to our judges:
- Katie Stebbins
- Greg Mamet
- Sandra Casagrande
Here's an overview of the teams and their ideas:
How do you spend a beautiful Saturday in Boston's Innovation District? If you are like 100 participants and 40 advisors/mentors, you are participating in CityStart Boston today (Saturday May 30), (or as my iPhone has been correcting it for months during the planning process - City Stars). And anyone who would get up ridiculously early and devote their Saturday to helping their city deserves a big gold star. You can follow along over today and the next three weeks via #citystartboston.
Mass Innovation Nights 74 was a huge success! We were sponsored and hosted by Mercedes-Benz of Burlington at their luxurious new dealership. Our event took place on the showroom floor, surrounded by sleek cars. Catering from Chopp's American Grill in the Burlington Marriott provided delectable cheeses, charcuterie plates and tuna tartare. It was quite a night, and we look forward to returning to the dealership for our Foodie event in August. Thanks again to the whole Mercedes-Benz team who are totally awesome!
